You have purchased your prom dress, shoes, jewelry, and handbag. You have decided on whether you will style your hair yourself or go to a beautician. Now you need to decide if you will do your own makeup or have it done professionally. With 2007 prom dresses, it’s all about fashion, and makeup is a part of that fashion statement that will make you shine!

If you are one that does not like to wear makeup, you will need to wear a small amount for your prom. Makeup will bring your features out and cover those unwanted blemishes.

If you have decided to do your own makeup, put on your makeup before putting on your prom dress. This is a precaution to protect your prom dress from any drops or spills that may take place while you are applying your makeup.

There are many tips for applying makeup that can bring out your natural beauty.

Foundation and Concealer

The first step in applying makeup is choosing the perfect foundation. This is done by matching the makeup with your skin tone and complexion. Always make sure the makeup is well blended and there are no foundation lines around the neck. For any visible blemishes or dark circles under the eyes, a concealer can be used. Just dab it on lightly and blend it in good with the foundation.

Eye Makeup

Once your foundation is applied, your eyes are the next important step. You do not want your eye shadow to match the color of your prom dress, but you do want it to compliment the dress. In order to highlight your eyes, you will use a lighter shade or the base color from the lash line to the brow. Use a darker shade as a contour along the upper lash line from the center toward the outer corner, then back along crease.

With an eyeliner pencil, draw a single line above upper lash line from inner to outer corner. Then, draw a line under your lower lashes from outer to inner corner.

Mascara adds the finishing touch to your eyes. Hold the brush vertically to stroke your lower lashes. Then, for your upper lashes, wiggle the brush back and forth at the base, and then sweep the brush upward.

It could be a known fact that more than 66% of women in the USA today wear a size 12 or larger. It is terribly frustrating to have an idea of what you would like to wear to that office or holiday function, or any special occasion for the matter, and not be able to find the dress that you truly want in the local stores or boutiques. When you do set your eyes on that special dress, you cannot find your size as all the dresses are either a size 6, 8, or 10 and you are definitely NOT one of those.

Well, have you ever thought about the ease and convenience of online shopping? Certainly, you have bought gift baskets or a set of dishes on the internet but a formal occasion dress? That must be truly beyond your comprehension and a new frontier for you but stress no longer, as you can successfully purchase a plus size formal gown online.

These are the rules:

1. Have an idea about fabrics, their textures, and quality. Every good clothing website will state the type of fabric used on the description summary of the dress. Special occasion dresses are usually made of synthetic fabrics nowadays, due to lower costs and their ability to be wrinkle-free. Visit stores and boutiques in your area and very soon, you will be a fabric expert!

2. Also visit physical stores to see what colors and styles fit your shape and figure and have an idea what you would like or not like on you. Are the styles on the racks too dowdy or are they just plain revealing? Are the colors too loud and bold or are they just plain boring? You will choose the style and color basing on what is socially acceptable for that special event and what will look great on you.

Young or old, every woman wants to dress to look her best. That’s doubly true when it comes to formal occasions, since everyone will notice what others are wearing. Add in the pressures of being a teenager, and shopping for prom dresses can become a worrisome struggle. The good news is that there are evening dresses designed for every body type and individual style. Follow these simple guidelines for finding formal dresses that will make you look and feel great.

Body Image and Loving Yourself

There’s not a teenager around who isn’t self-conscious about some aspect of her body. After all, we live in a culture that has an idealized standard of beauty that is simply unrealistic. The models in the fashion magazines and the celebrities we admire are the exception, rather than the rule. “Real” women don’t look like models, and you shouldn’t feel pressured to conform to a standard that is unattainable.

Before you start looking for prom dresses, look in the mirror and learn to love the image that looks back at you. Whether you’re petite or tall, thin or plus size, understand that you deserve to have both your inner and outer beauty shine through on prom night. Decide which of your physical features you’d like to accentuate, and which you’d like to downplay.
